Staff Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized staff accountant for a temp-to-hire opportunity with a reputable organization in the North Phoenix area. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. We are looking for an individual who is proficient in QuickBooks or Sage and has a commitment to accuracy and teamwork.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and process journal entries, ensuring all financial data is recorded accurately.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, including complex reconciliations for bank accounts and intercompany transactions.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements and month-end/year-end closing processes.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections.
  • Review and analyze accounting data to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to update and implement accounting policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and oversee financial records, ensuring they are complete and up to date.
  • Support audits by gathering necessary documentation and reports.
  • Minimum requirements:

    • Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
    • 2+ years of professional experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
    • Proficiency in accounting software: QuickBooks or Sage (required).
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Effective communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    • Preferred qualifications:
      • Previous experience in general ledger accounting or financial statement preparation.
