General Description/Position Summary:
The Data Analyst is a key member of St. Louis Area Foodbank team and leads data analytics, client reporting, forecasting, organizational projects, and data mining for strategic insights, opportunities, and efficiencies to support operational excellence. The Data Analyst provides insight into the best ways the Foodbank can achieve its mission of building a stronger bi-state region by nourishing people, empowering communities, and transforming systems by leveraging data analytics. This individual will address complex organizational challenges and operate as an internal consultant to analyze data to develop and recommend strategic improvements. The Data Analyst will be essential in the Foodbank's effort to continually define its impact in its service territories. In this role, the Data Analyst will interface on a regular basis with Foodbank leaders to support organizational efficiencies to further our mission. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of data analytical technical skills, business acumen, project management, and interpersonal savvy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the organization's subject matter expert for data analytics, strategic analysis, reporting, and project management.
- Ensure compliance to all Feeding America contract requirements as it relates to data.
- Provide analytic and consultative support to internal stakeholders in support of our mission:
- Gather data from various sources, model the data, develop tools to visualize patterns and trends, and work with key stakeholders to analyze needs, trends, and/or evaluate current programs and initiatives.
- Lead the interpretation of raw data, statistical results or otherwise compiled information from internal and external sources.
- Present analyzed data via tools (i.e., charts, maps, trendlines, dashboards, etc.) and visualizations.
- Assist key stakeholders to identify, gather and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and measurements, and work to put systems in place that can make that information available to the resources that need it.
- Assist key stakeholders in arriving at data-driven recommendations such as possible new initiatives that directly impact neighbors struggling with food insecurity.
- Develop and assemble reports as requested for key stakeholders.
- Serve as the organization's Dynamics NAV subject matter expert.
- Assist in driving the vision of a data-driven organization to reality by assisting in various data infrastructure and data governance efforts:
- Work with all departments within the Foodbank to support and improve the organization's data procedures, policies, security guidelines, expectations, and execution.
- Perform requirements analysis for data efforts that feed reports and dashboards.
- Lead efforts to create custom data dashboards to meet the needs of the Foodbank and assist in efforts such as grant reporting and forecasting.
- Create and maintain documentation for data analysis efforts including requirements, design, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and manuals.
- Lead and execute the Foodbank By The Numbers (FBBTN) project annually.
- Extract and combine data from multiple sources, both internal and external, for reporting and analysis.
- Partner with Foodbank leadership to lead and deliver strategic organizational-wide projects including planning, requirements gathering, management, analysis, and training.
- Contribute to the creation and delivery of strategic presentations needed for Executive Leadership Team and Foodbank Board of Directors review.
- Lead the development of SOPs for data reporting and analysis.
- Gather, analyze, and forecast large amounts of information quickly and problem solve effectively.
- Perform ad hoc reporting as needed.
- Complete other special projects as assigned based on business and organizational needs.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university required.
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years of data analytics and business intelligence experience required, with direct responsibility for applying technology.
- Extensive experience with the following technologies and solutions:
- Microsoft Dynamics NAV (front/back-end).
- Microsoft 365 business applications.
- Microsoft Azure environment.
- Microsoft SQL, preferably in Azure.
- Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps).
- SharePoint lists.
- Tableau
- Jet Reports / Jet Analytics
- Qualtrics
- Extensive experience in the following key competencies:
- Developing and managing a data warehouse.
- Creating and optimizing SQL queries and database performance.
- Stored procedures.
- Data masking/anonymization.
- Data analysis and business intelligence best practices.
- Data architecture, management and security.
- Gathering, documenting and executing on business and solution requirements.
- Assisting stakeholders with defining requirements and collecting data.
- Determining where to find the source of an otherwise obscure data request.
- Experience in the following fields preferred: Mathematics, Economics, Project Management, Social Science Research, and Data Analytics Framework.
- Previous non-profit experience preferred.
- Experience in the food banking system, consumer-packaged goods food industry or retail food distribution preferred.
- Understanding and application of descriptive statistics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to create, tailor and deliver presentations to various target audiences and stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail, ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Passion for the Foodbank's mission and the ability to demonstrate SLAFB's Core Values (Evolve, People Centric, Integrity, Courage).

Work Schedule:
- Monday - Friday onsite at the SLAFB facility and in the community as needed.
- However, flexibility will be granted as appropriate in accordance with the SLAFB's Remote Work/Working From Home Policy.
- Occasional weekend (Saturday/Sunday) or evening hours may be required.
- Meeting attendance may require overnight travel.
