Position Summary

We are seeking a Dental Assistant. The Dental Assistant works under a dentist’s supervision to prepare equipment for procedures, ready patients for procedures, and assist the dentist during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating the dentist’s needs. Responsibilities may include removing sutures, processing x-rays and taking oral impressions for crowns.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direct supervision of the Prosthodontist/Oral Surgeon
• Provide chair-side assistance and support during dental examinations and treatments
• Prepare patients for treatment and obtain dental records
• Hand instruments and materials to dentists; keep the patient’s mouth dry and clear with suction
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment; prepare trays for procedures; instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care
• Prepare materials for impressions and restorations; take dental x-rays and process film
• Assist with radiographic equipment and procedures as directed
• Perform office duties as needed (scheduling, confirming appointments, receiving patients, maintaining treatment records, invoicing, and ordering supplies)
• Assist in specialty areas (oral surgery, periodontics, prosthodontics, including dental implantology)
• Support and assist the hygienist (tray cleaning, room setups, cleanups)
• Track inventory of prosthetic supplies and organize storage areas
• Support radiographic needs of the Patient Education Consultants, Oral Surgeon, and Hygienists

Working Conditions

• Dental assistants work in a well-lighted, clean environment near the dental chair
• Must wear gloves, masks, eyewear, and protective clothing to protect self and patients
• Follow safety procedures to minimize risks associated with x-ray machines

Experience

• Certified as a Dental Assistant by the ADA
• Two years of Dental Assistant experience
• Dental implant experience desired
• Reliable, team-oriented, good manual dexterity
• Current CPR certification

Physical Requirements

• Work in an office environment; walk the floor and assist wherever needed
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; stand for extended periods
• Fine motor precision; adjust controls and maneuver small objects
• Ability to shift between multiple activities or information sources
• Good multi-limb coordination and trunk strength

Compensation And Benefits

The anticipated range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00 hourly.
