Position Summary

We are seeking a Dental Assistant - Prosth. The Prosthodontist Dental Assistant works under a dentist’s supervision to prepare equipment for procedures, ready patients, and assist the dentist by passing instruments, holding suction, and anticipating the dentist’s needs. Responsibilities may include removing sutures, processing x-rays and taking oral impressions used to fit crowns.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direct supervision of the Prosthodontist
• Provide chair-side assistance and perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties
• Ensure patient comfort, prepare for treatment, and obtain dental records
• Hand instruments and materials to dentists; keep mouths dry and clear using suction or other devices
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment; prepare trays for procedures; instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care
• Prepare materials for impressions and restorations; take dental X-rays and process X-ray film as directed
• Assist with radiographic procedures as directed by a dentist
• Perform office duties as needed (scheduling, confirming appointments, receiving patients, maintaining treatment records, billing, payments, and ordering supplies)
• Assist in specialty areas (oral surgery, periodontics, prosthodontics including dental implantology)
• Support and assist the hygienist with trays, room setup and cleanup
• Track inventory of prosthetic supplies and keep storage organized
• Support radiographic needs of the Patient Education Consultants, Oral Surgeon, and Hygienists

Working Conditions

• Well-lit, clean environment; near the dental chair for instrument handling
• Protective gear required (gloves, masks, eyewear, protective clothing)
• Follow safety procedures for x-ray machine use

Experience

• Certified as a Dental Assistant by the ADA
• Two years of dental assistant experience
• Dental implant experience desired
• Reliable, works well in a fast-paced environment, good manual dexterity
• Current CPR certification

Physical Requirements

• Regularly work in an office environment; move around the workspace as needed
• Ability to walk the floor, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 pounds
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and dexterity to use instruments safely

Compensation And Benefits

The anticipated range for this position is $20 - $25 / hour.
