Data Platform Engineer Databricks & Snowflake
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Administration & Engineering
Administer and manage
Databricks
and
Snowflake
environments, including user access, workspace configuration, cluster policies, and cost controls. Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance data platform architecture. DBA-like tasks. Monitor platform health, usage, and performance; proactively identify and resolve issues. Manage data storage, compute resources, and integrations with cloud services in AWS. Automation & DevOps
Develop and maintain
infrastructure-as-code
(IaC) for platform provisioning using tools like
Terraform
or
CloudFormation . Automate platform operations including user onboarding, job scheduling, resource scaling, and alerting. Implement CI/CD pipelines for data platform components and configurations. Build reusable scripts and tools for operational efficiency (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell). Security, Governance & Compliance
Enforce data security policies, access controls, and audit logging across Databricks and Snowflake. Collaborate with data governance teams to implement data cataloging, lineage, and classification tools. Ensure compliance with internal and external data regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC2). The Technology Engineer delivers standard and custom supportable technology products based on Nationwides architectural standards, technology roadmaps, industry trends, and business requirements. Youll be focused on collaboration, data, systems, storage, middleware, network, security, and contact center technology products. Youre also accountable for the operational aspects and management for the above products in accordance with the business requirements and defined service level agreements (SLAs). Key Responsibilities:
Create and implement standard builds/templates for all technology platforms. Drive requirements to meet current and future needs, track and report capacity postures. Apply secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities. Analyze reports and delivery recommendations to remediate capacity issues. Implement capacity enhancements. Design standard and custom technology solutions for business partner projects, including pre-production testing, performance tuning, handoffs, and certification. Deliver technology/product optimization, migrations, and management, including design, planning, power, and environmental management. Collaborate with others to develop meaningful metrics that drive fact-based decisions on a given product/environment/solution. Conduct proactive system maintenance, disaster recovery planning, data backup and recovery, inventory, configuration, and utility product management. Execute production engineering processes, incident management, root cause analysis, problem management, change management, release management, and knowledge management. Provide production support for all technology platforms. Oversee technical labs and development environments. May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Reporting Relationships:

Education:
Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or a related field are preferred. License/Certification/Designation:
Technology certifications or designations are encouraged but not required (e.g., AWS, Azure, scripting, security). Experience:
Four years of experience with moderately complex integrated solutions and the ability to develop and modify existing solutions for specialized needs. Experience with automation of solution configurations, deployment, and system management processes and tools. Knowledge of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and package solutions. Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Strong communication skills, knowledge of planning, management, and execution of Accelerated Solutions Delivery framework, information security awareness. Influencing, negotiating, and priority setting skills are needed. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge is a plus. Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies, and experiences, may take precedence. Staffing exceptions require approval from the hiring managers leader and HR Business Partner. Values:
