Opportunity for healthcare leadership students! Avera is offering an Administrative Fellowship. This program will run July 2026 to June 2027. Qualified applicants must be no more than one year post graduation as of the start of the program. Applications due by September 30! A Brief Overview A one-year experiential learning opportunity for recently trained Master's prepared graduate providing broad exposure to regional and rural healthcare settings including acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinic management, and health systems development. The fellow will spend a minimum of one week working in and with Avera's regional hospital Administrative Councils, will participate in meetings of the Board and its committees, medical staff committees, administrative staff, and selected System committees. The fellow will be responsible for the completion of assigned projects, and for rotating through System facilities. What you will do: Attends and participates in Administrative staff meetings and other hospital based meetings as desired, invited or assigned. Establish rapport with President/CEO and other Management council members. Attends Medical Staff and Board of Trustees' committee meetings as directed. Undertakes, coordinates and completes selected projects according to needs of the institution and the interest of the fellow. Makes suggestions/recommendations to the President and CEO based on organizational observations. Schedules departmental rotations/meetings based on areas of interest, as suggested by President or assigned. Assists in departmental strategic planning and budget process as directed. Maintains confidentiality when dealing with data related to patients, physicians, co-workers and any other hospital information. Shows evidence of acceptable approaches to problem solving. Handles unanticipated events and crisis situations in a professional manner. Follows hospital policies and when in doubt seek clarification before acting. Informs President/CEO of project progression, achievements, and potential problems. Essential Qualifications The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
