We are looking for a highly organized and analytical

Head of Buying & Planning

to oversee inventory, procurement, logistics, and website merchandising to ensure seamless customer experiences and business efficiency. This role involves forecasting demand, purchasing inventory, managing supplier relationships, optimizing logistics, and curating website merchandising to maximize sales performance. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, purchasing and logistics experience, and the ability to balance inventory needs with cost control while ensuring compelling product presentation online. Key Responsibilities

Inventory Planning & Management Monitor and manage inventory levels to maintain optimal stock availability while minimizing excess inventory. Develop inventory strategies to balance supply and demand, considering lead times, seasonality, and sales trends. Establish and maintain reorder points and safety stock levels based on data-driven insights. Collaborate with sales, warehouse, and operations teams to ensure stock availability aligns with business needs. Identify and mitigate risks related to stockouts, overstocking, and obsolescence. Oversee logistics operations , ensuring efficient transportation, storage, and distribution of goods. Hire, train, and manage a high-performing team to support inventory planning, procurement, logistics, and merchandising functions. Purchasing & Procurement Source, negotiate, and purchase inventory from suppliers to meet demand requirements at optimal cost. Maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and quality standards. Evaluate supplier performance based on pricing, quality, and delivery reliability. Manage purchase orders (POs), track shipments, and resolve any supply chain disruptions. Collaborate with finance and accounts payable to ensure accurate and timely supplier payments. Forecasting & Demand Planning Analyze historical sales data, market trends, and customer demand to develop accurate forecasts. Work with sales and marketing teams to incorporate promotions, new product launches, and seasonal fluctuations into planning. Adjust forecasts and procurement strategies based on real-time data and changing business needs. Logistics Management Manage inbound logistics from suppliers, selecting the most efficient and cost-effective transportation modes including

LTL, FTL, container shipping, and transloading . Optimize transportation routes and carrier partnerships to ensure timely delivery while reducing overall freight costs. Coordinate international and domestic shipments, ensuring compliance with customs, freight forwarding, and import/export regulations. Website Merchandising Own and execute the merchandising strategy for the e-commerce website to drive conversion and sales. Curate and optimize product assortment, categorization, and placement to enhance discoverability and user experience. Partner with marketing and design teams to ensure product presentation aligns with brand standards and seasonal campaigns. Continuously test and improve on-site merchandising tactics (cross-sell, upsell, product recommendations). Analyze website performance metrics (conversion rates, click-throughs, bounce rates) to inform merchandising decisions. Data Analysis & Reporting Monitor key KPIs (inventory turnover, logistics cost per order, fill rate, merchandising performance). Leverage analytics tools to improve inventory, logistics, and merchandising decision-making Process Improvement & Optimization Identify inefficiencies in planning, logistics, and merchandising workflows. Implement technology and automation to streamline supply chain and online merchandising operations. Lead cross-functional projects to enhance supply chain resilience and e-commerce conversion. Mentor and develop team members to grow departmental expertise. Required Qualifications & Skills Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in inventory planning, procurement, logistics, or merchandising in an e-commerce or retail environment. Experience working with ERP systems, inventory management, logistics platforms, and e-commerce merchandising tools. Technical & Analytical Skills Strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis). Experience with demand planning tools, logistics systems, and merchandising platforms (e.g., Shopify, Magento). Ability to analyze large datasets and extract actionable insights. Soft Skills Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management skills. Strong communication and collaboration abilities across departments. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in managing multiple priorities. Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in e-commerce, FMCG, or retail industries. Knowledge of supply chain optimization, last-mile delivery strategies, and on-site merchandising best practices. Familiarity with analytics/BI tools (Power BI, SQL, Google Analytics).
