The purpose of this class is to assist the Marketing Manager in developing and implementing marketing initiatives to sell and promote the events of the Hampton Coliseum, the American Theatre, and the Charles H. Taylor Arts Center. Examples of work include: Assisting with developing and executing strategies for single ticket and season subscription sales and coordinating promotional campaigns for events at Hampton Coliseum, The American Theatre and The Charles H. Taylor Arts Center. Monitoring reports and conducting surveys to gauge the success of marketing efforts. Coordinating production of advertising materials for events at Hampton Coliseum, The American Theatre and The Charles H. Taylor Arts Center. Providing in-house design and working with the design firm to create print and digital ads, flyers, posters, postcards, publications, etc. Assisting with securing paid and trade media placement. Ensuring advertising timelines, gathering invoices for settlement and maintaining daily tear sheets. Monitoring media outlets for coverage of Hampton Coliseum, The American Theatre and The Charles H. Taylor Arts Center. Developing and maintaining a positive and productive working relationship with media contacts for the purpose of generating favorable publicity. Assisting with planning and implementing new media communication strategies, including social media, email marketing and blogging. Performing maintenance on Hampton Coliseum and Hampton Arts Commission websites. Updating electronic marquee and digital signage. Coordinating group sales activities. Providing support for the sponsorship program. Maintaining databases for group sales, sponsorships, direct mail campaigns and email marketing. Maintaining event recaps for all events to include promotions, trades, paid advertising and public relations efforts. Performing marketing related duties on event days. Representing Hampton Coliseum and Hampton Arts Commission at public events such as festivals, fairs, etc. to promote upcoming events. Carrying out duties of the Marketing Manager in his/her absence. Performing other duties as assigned. Qualifications include: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or a related field of study is required. Two (2) years of marketing experience required. Any acceptable combination of education and experience may substitute for the more specific requirements listed above. Experience in marketing both public assembly facilities and a wide range of entertainment events is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Access and Adobe Photoshop is required. Knowledge of a variety of social media platforms and use of these platforms in a professional environment is required. Knowledge of website content management software is preferred. Requires excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with diverse populations, the ability to evaluate and respond to demands of the industry, and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license and have and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria. Features include: Performing duties under the direct supervision of the Marketing Manager of Hampton Coliseum/ Hampton Arts Commission. Requires considerable contact with the entertainment and advertising communities, promoters, vendors, contractors, other City departments and general public. Requires considerable independent judgment and decision-making. Duties are frequently performed outside of regular working hours to include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Occasional travel may be required. This is an exempt position.
