Volt takes great care of our great hires Volt is immediately hiring an experienced Machine Programmer in Vista, Ca. As a Machine Progrsmmer you will: Plan machining operations by reviewing work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, material specifications, orthographic drawings, and reference planes. Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) to ensure accurate machining. Program CNC mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, tool registers, offsets, compensations, and conditional switches. Calculate machining requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry. Prove and verify part programs before production runs. Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision parts. Determine required tools for machining tasks and program machines accordingly. Utilize CAD/CAM software to model cutting paths and generate machine code. Perform quality assurance checks to verify parts meet design specifications. Monitor machining operations including drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing. Measure parts and workpieces to verify accuracy of machine settings. Detect and troubleshoot process or equipment malfunctions; adjust or reprogram as needed. Replace or sharpen worn tools to maintain product quality. Optimize cutting paths and machine settings for efficiency while maintaining quality standards. Maintain compliance with international and internal quality standards. Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment and follow manufacturer’s instructions. Report and coordinate repairs when machines malfunction. Follow all safety procedures and regulations to ensure a safe work environment. Train other employees on CNC machine operation and programming. Maintain accurate production and quality records/logs. Split time between programming (office environment) and operating machines (manufacturing floor); responsibilities may shift to 100% in either area depending on workload. Participate in internal training as required to fulfill job duties. Perform other duties as assigned. This is a full-time opportunity The ideal candidate will have: U.S. Person status required due to export control regulations. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 1 year of experience working in an AS9100-certified environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Solid understanding and practical application of the 5S System. 2+ years of experience using Mastercam, including both 3-axis and 5-axis programming. Advanced knowledge of machine tool clearances, fixture offsets, and cutting tool offsets. Proficient in the use of indicators, gauges, and plate inspection methods for fixture pick-up, first article, and in-process inspection of precision-machined components. Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving mechanical and logistical issues in a manufacturing environment. Ability to work independently while also following directions accurately. Willingness and availability to work mandatory weekends and overtime as needed. Physically capable of standing for extended periods in a loud manufacturing environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to interact effectively with co-workers and management. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and quality specifications. Fluent in English — able to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions.
