Metrology/Lab Technician (Level 4)

Location: Ladson, SC Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Level 4 Lab & Metrology Technician to lead our measurement/metrology team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of various metrology devices, including laser scanners, laser trackers, and handheld scanners. This role involves overseeing measurement tasks, creating and executing measurement plans, and ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and reliability in our laboratory operations. Key Responsibilities: Lead and coordinate measurement tasks, ensuring adherence to established protocols and quality standards. Demonstrate expertise in operating and maintaining various metrology devices, including laser scanners, laser trackers, and handheld scanners. Perform field checks and measurements as required, ensuring data accuracy and reliability. Develop, implement, and execute comprehensive measurement plans tailored to specific project requirements. Collaborate with multiple team members to delegate tasks effectively and ensure timely completion of measurement activities. Conduct detailed analysis of measurement data for lab customers, providing insights and recommendations based on findings. Manage licensing and calibration schedules for all metrology equipment, ensuring no loss of capability and compliance with industry standards. Mentor and train junior technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team. Participate in the development and refinement of laboratory processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Handle miscellaneous tasks related to measurement lab activities as needed. Qualifications: HS Diploma or Associates degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, physics, metrology) or equivalent experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a metrology or measurement-related role, with a strong background in leading measurement tasks. In-depth knowledge of metrology devices and measurement techniques. Proven experience in creating and executing measurement plans. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights. Excellent leadership and team collaboration skills, with experience in delegating tasks and managing team dynamics. Proficient in using measurement software and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite). Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and team members. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.
