We are presently seeking a Metrology Technician who will perform a wide range of measurements on production parts, both in-process and as final QA. The Metrology Technician uses vision, interferometry, and other measurement techniques to evaluate optical components. They also protect our customers by ensuring that the product conforms to all specifications and that correct procedure and technique are always followed. Main responsibilities include: Perform duties in laboratory, cleanroom, and optical fabrication work environments. Conduct a wide range of interferometry measurements. Build simple optomechanical setups for low and high-power laser spectral measurements. Read engineering drawings & standards to understand product specifications. Perform measurements accurately, safely, and according to written instructions. Perform inspection using written and visual standards and accurately document observations. Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot metrology equipment. Train others in correct measurement technique. Perform gauge calibration according to written instructions. Maintain accurate calibration records. Maintain a clean and orderly work environment. Performs other tasks as assigned. Qualifications: Optics technology certificate strongly preferred. Previous optics manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Previous hands-on optomechanical setup building and laser experience strongly preferred. Minimum 2 years metrology experience required or equivalent college education in STEM. Self-directed, with the ability to identify and respond to a variety of problems common to manufacturing. Pay Range: $23.00-$29.64 per hour, based on experience. Our facility in Boulder, Colorado, has key functions in Research and Development, Operations, Production, and other disciplines. This facility specializes in the manufacturing of ultra-precision optical components, optical thin film coatings, and optical sub-assemblies for demanding applications in lasers, materials processing, instrumentation, life sciences, avionics, and defense. This site offers capabilities that include substantial design and engineering resources, comprehensive optical fabrication and coating capabilities, advanced assembly technology, and an extensive in-house metrology lab.
