Overview
The Project Manager ensures project goals are achieved while maintaining strong relationships with team members, clients, and trade partners. This role is responsible for overseeing schedules, budgets, safety, quality, and the overall work environment. It requires proactive planning, leadership, and collaboration with the project owner, superintendent, and engineer to deliver successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and model company culture, safety standards, and values.
- Take ownership of projects, making decisions that support profitability and maintain relationships.
- Mentor and develop project engineers, interns, and peers.
- Identify, mitigate, and report project risks.
- Oversee or assist with the buyout process, including authoring purchase orders and subcontracts.
- Create and maintain project schedules and weekly look-ahead schedules.
- Manage change orders, submittals, RFIs, and QA/QC processes.
- Prepare and present detailed monthly project status updates.
- Ensure compliance with contracts, specifications, and drawings.
- Coordinate weekly job meetings and maintain accurate records, including job files and as-built plans.
- Communicate frequently with contractors, subcontractors, and owners’ representatives.
- Perform other duties as needed to support project success and broaden skills.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in construction management or a similar leadership role.
- Strong leadership, conflict resolution, and budget management skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction materials, processes, and quality control methods.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience with heavy/highway, bridge construction, grading, drainage, paving, and related scopes preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including MS Project); familiarity with Bluebeam PDF, HCSS HeavyBid/HeavyJob, Dexter & Chaney Spectrum, and Primavera is a plus.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask across multiple projects and work effectively with diverse teams.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
