Fire Supplies Clerk Supervisor

This is limited supervisory work in receiving, storing and issuing a wide variety of materials, supplies and equipment to include medical supplies, bio-medical and fire-fighting equipment. Work involves responsibility for operating a moderately sized stockroom in the fire department and for supervising the work of Fire Supplies Clerk I. Employees may perform some manual work in the receipt, storage and issuance of supplies. This work differs from that of Fire Supplies Clerk I in that it involves accountability for all commodities received and issued by subordinates as well as those handled personally, and requires familiarity with a wider variety of commodities to include medical supplies, materials and bio-medical equipment. General direction is received from a supervisor, who reviews requisitions or purchase orders and inspects storeroom premises. The employee is responsible for adhering to proper warehousing and related work methods and standards. Supervises, trains and assists Fire Supplies Clerk I in the receipt, storage and issuance of supplies, materials and equipment. Maintains and control inventory of controlled substances as required by state law. Ensures compliance with state Emergency Management Systems Administration policy. Maintains three (3) months supplies as mandated by the Emergency Management Systems. Orders, receives, distributes and maintains inventory of fire department equipment and supplies to include non-disposable medical supplies, medical equipment, and office supplies. Maintains or supervises the maintenance of perpetual inventories; prepares detailed store reports, and maintains daily records of expenditures; conducts spot checks of inventory to ensure appropriate storage and shelf life requirements. Communicates and coordinates services with other city departments, vendors, and outside agencies. Supervising the stocking of all fire stations with proper cleaning, household and cooking supplies. Checks quantity and quality of goods received for conformity to purchase orders and specifications; calls vendors and secures preliminary advisory prices on supplies and parts. Prepares requisitions for materials, keeping superior notified of stock on hand and suggesting purchases of designated commodities. Recommends proper minimum and maximum stock levels according to demand; recommends items for inclusion or exclusion from inventory. Prepares monthly and semimonthly billings for using agencies. Performs minor repairs on bio-medical and fire-fighting equipment used by Rescue and Fire Fighting personnel in the Department of Fire Rescue, when needed. May assist in the delivery of supplies and pickup of orders from suppliers. Conforms to and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions. Conforms to all safety rules which include wearing and using all appropriate safety equipment. Performs other related work as required. A high school diploma or its equivalent, and two (2) years experience in the receipt, storage and issuance of a variety of medical or firefighting supplies or equipment or two (2) years supervisory experience in the receipt, storage, and issuance of supplies or equipment in a warehouse, storeroom, or similar setting. Six (6) months experience conducting minor repairs to the related equipment and experience in storekeeping of biomedical equipment may be desirable. A Valid Driver's License from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application, however prior to appointment a State of Florida Driver's License (Class E or higher) must be presented to the Department of Human Resources and must be maintained valid through employment. OR Equivalent combination of education and experience beyond high school diploma or its equivalent and six (6) months of the required experience.
