Part Time Recreation Aide
City of South Miami, Parks & Recreation Department is seeking qualified applicants for a part time Recreation Aide. Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor II, the Recreation Aide assists in opening and readying the facility for general use, conducting recreation activities, facility rentals, collects fees, reports safety needs and interacts with the public regarding information requests. Main tasks and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: assisting with the coordination and implementation of recreation programs including youth after school and camp programs, maintains inventory of equipment and supplies, reviews daily schedules for facility, field and pavilion reservations, and ensures cleanliness, safety and security of the facility. Job Responsibilities: Assists with facilitating programs and activities while ensuring the safety, general welfare and enjoyment of the general public. Maintains accurate documentation including attendance record, discipline, medication log, and accident and incident reports. Supports with execution of community events. Provides excellent customer service to all customers in all situations. Becomes a visual presence at City facilities and is often the first line of communication with the public, answering telephones, providing information and collecting fees. Responsible for facility safety checks; looks for unsafe and/or hazardous conditions or activities and reports them to a supervisor. Performs light custodial duties, e.g., maintains recreational equipment, maintains cleanliness of facilities and performs set up and break down duties for activities and special events. Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abililties Minimum Requirements: High school graduation or its equivalency. Some college coursework preferred. Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions and perform simple math skills. Possess valid State of Florida driver's license. Computer proficiency required (Microsoft applications) Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette. Excellent customer service skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience using recreation software (Recpro). Interest/experience in recreation, athletics, fitness and youth programming. Knowledge of basic cashier procedures. Current CPR, AED and First Aid Certification. Physical and Enviromental Requirements: Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions required.
