Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage our weekly multi-state payroll for over 300 union and non-union employees. This role requires a professional who can maintain payroll internal controls, ensure compliance with federal and state laws, and effectively resolve payroll issues. Responsibilities: Manage weekly multi-state payroll for over 300 union and non-union employees. Ensure compliance with payroll procedures, policies, and processing rules. Maintain internal controls for timecard imports and Personnel Action Form adjustments. Review imports, reconcile pay details to source documents, and maintain the Payroll Processing Checklist. Process wage garnishments accurately and timely, adhering to federal and state laws. Address and resolve employee payroll inquiries promptly. Stay informed on federal and state regulatory laws and reporting requirements. Coordinate with IT, HR, and ADP to implement payroll requirements. Create and maintain payroll validation tables. Manage journal entry postings and general ledger mapping. Collaborate with HR to coordinate pay, deductions, and recoup missed deductions. Prepare accurate payroll reports for various audits and financial purposes. Review 941 returns and other auto-generated reports for accuracy. Oversee year-end processing and reconciliation for accurate W-2 issuance. Coordinate with HR and IT teams for payroll system implementation and maintenance. Complete additional projects and assignments as requested. Essential Skills: 3+ years of experience in payroll processing for 300+ employees. Knowledge of union regulations and experience with payroll processing in union environments. Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now and multi-state payroll systems. Experience in high-volume payroll processing (1,000+ employees). Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Experience with Kronos, Ultimate Software UltiPro, and time and attendance software. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus. Job Type & Location: This is a contract to hire position based out of Bronx, New York. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
