Job Description
Training in the use of fall protection equipment and harness with lanyard.
Confined space awareness certification.
Cal OSHA 30-hour training and certification.
NFPA 70E certification (required for electrical inspectors).
ICC certifications and Deputy Inspector Licenses (preferred but not required).
Strong knowledge and ability to inspect large-scale construction projects for airports and public facilities. This includes steel and concrete structures, architectural finishes and components, and other construction related to airport terminal operations.
Proficiency in ensuring conformance with safety regulations, plans, specifications, and applicable documents.
Knowledge of LA City Building Codes and ADA requirements.
Experience inspecting demolition and new building construction from start to finish.
Expertise in identifying and addressing deficiencies, ensuring compliance with required standards.
Strong understanding of diverse construction and safety requirements.
Excellent communication and time management skills.
Conduct comprehensive daily inspections of building and terminal construction projects, ensuring compliance with codes and project specifications.
Review and interpret construction documents, including blueprints, shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
Prepare detailed daily inspection reports documenting project activities (WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, HOW) with clarity and accountability.
Verify contractor compliance with local jurisdiction requirements, building codes, and LAWA-specific proprietary standards.
Support special inspections and testing activities in coordination with engineers, contractors, and third-party agencies.
Track and document time-and-material work, field changes, and job quantities as required.
Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on approved schedules of values.
Prepare clear and concise reports on daily and monthly construction progress, including job quantities, changes, and material verification.
Clearing, grubbing, and demolition of building structures.
Excavations, trenching, and shoring.
Grade and elevation surveys.
Structural backfill and compaction for underground utilities.
Structural and non-structural concrete work.
Formwork, footings, and micro piles.
Sewer and storm drain inspection.
Metal stud framing, drywall installation, and interior finishes.
Door and hardware installation (including fire-rated components).
T-bar ceilings, hard lids, and other fire-rated assemblies.
Proficiency with Project Management Information Software (PMIS) used for inspection and document control (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Excel, Word, PMWeb, Adobe Pro, Bluebeam, etc.).
Ability to review and process electronic documents (change orders, submittals, RFIs, inspection records) with minimal supervision.
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
