Medical Assistant
We are seeking a skilled medical assistant to provide compassionate care and support back office functions in a busy urology practice in Millburn. The role involves performing phlebotomy and blood draws, processing specimens, preparing patient rooms, and updating electronic medical records using EPIC. Responsibilities: Perform phlebotomy and blood draws with precision and care. Process specimens and prepare them for laboratory processing. Utilize a centrifuge to spin blood samples effectively. Provide compassionate care to patients, ensuring their comfort. Update patient information, including family histories and previous visit notes. Conduct intakes for patients and room loading. Perform vital checks and medication reconciliation. Prepare patient charts prior to visits. Complete prior authorizations for treatments. Restock rooms and supply closets, complete inventory management. Triage phone calls for physician and patient inquiries. Update electronic medical records using EPIC. Essential Skills: Minimum of 1 year experience as a medical assistant. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) accreditation with a diploma from an accredited MA school. Proficiency in blood draw techniques. Comfortable working in a urology practice. Experience with patient care and pediatric care. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Experience working with Athena. Ability to adapt to different physician personalities and pacing. Work Environment: The position is located in a high-volume urology office, where you will work with patients typically dealing with prostate cancer, bladder cancer, UTIs, kidney stones, kidney transplants, urinary infrequency, enlarged prostates, and infertility issues. The office handles 80-100 patients per day, with each physician seeing 20-50 daily. You will work alongside five medical professionals and four medical assistants, contributing to a collaborative environment. The role requires adapting to various doctor schedules, with shifts from Monday to Friday, between 7 AM to 6 PM, with some flexibility needed depending on the doctor's schedule. A typical day is approximately eight hours, and availability during the specified hours is mandatory. Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Millburn, New Jersey. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
