Payroll Administrator

Responsibilities include the following: 1. Maintenance of payroll master list; includes verifying and adding new employees, adding authorized salary corrections, removing terminated employees from the payroll. 2. Updating payroll files for appropriate tax changes, i.e. changes in employee's filing status, changes in tax rates, adding or reducing the number of claimed dependents. 3. Verifying and adding elected employee withholding, such as health insurance, tax deferred annuities, contributions. Verifying and adding employee garnishments and tax levies, as instructed. 4. Verifying payroll information submitted by department heads. 5. Verifies accuracy of payroll checks. 6. Prepares general ledger entries relating to payroll. 7. Payment of payroll taxes to Federal, State, and local authorities. 8. Payment of premiums to insurance companies for employee benefits such as life insurance, disability, health insurance, etc. 9. Maintenance of payroll reports, timecards, and other information for an appropriate period of time. 10. Maintenance and reporting of payroll statistics, as appropriate. 11. Filing and monitoring employee disability claims. 12. Verifying employment related information requests from authorized sources. 13. Other accounting functions, such as bank account reconciliations, as deemed appropriate. Education: High School Diploma Experience: Minimum of three (3) years experience in an office setting. Preferably, prior accounting or payroll experience. Typing: Must be able to type and use a computer keyboard effectively. Machine Operation: Calculator, adding machine, computer and telephone. Hearing: Must have the ability to hear and communicate effectively.
