Temporary Accountant Nonprofit Real Estate Organization
Are you an experienced accounting professional looking for a meaningful short-term opportunity? Our client, a mission-driven nonprofit real estate company, is seeking a Temporary Accountant to join their team and support their finance department during a busy period.

About the role

This is a hands-on role where youll help maintain accurate financial records and support the accounting function through a critical time. Youll work closely with the Controller and finance team to ensure smooth operations and compliance with nonprofit reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end close, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processing
• Support grant and property accounting, ensuring accurate cost allocations
• Assist with preparation of financial reports for leadership and funding partners
• Help maintain compliance with nonprofit and real estate accounting standards

What Were Looking For

• 2+ years of accounting experience (nonprofit or real estate industry experience a plus)
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes
• Comfortable working in accounting software (QuickBooks or similar) and Excel
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Ability to hit the ground running and work independently

• Type: Temporary (approx. 34 months, potential to extend)
• Location: Trumbull, CT - fully onsite
• Compensation: $30$38/hour, depending on experience
