Position Title: Accountant

Position Summary:

The Accountant contributes significantly in all financial reporting for the School, including financial statements, internal and external financial surveys, verification, reviews, and posting a variety of financial transactions in accordance with accounting principles and MSM policies and procedures. This position requires advanced experience in general accounting, general accepted accounting principles, and governmental accounting procedures. This position requires an individual with analytical skills to assist in reporting for Fixed Assets, as well as conducting annual fixed asset perpetual and physical inventory.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide professional level, cross-functional general accounting support which is analytical, evaluative, innovative, and advisory in nature for the General Accounting section of the Office of the Controller.
  • Maintain accounting reconciliations and wide variety of centralized accounting services where the application of knowledge about the theories, principles, and practices of the accounting profession, including US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) are used in classifying, examining, analyzing, reconciling, and reporting of financial transactions while ensuring compliance of applicable laws, rules, and regulations between entities, programs, and funds.
  • Analyze financial results and make intelligent business recommendations to improve these results.
  • Contribute in the analysis, consolidation, and preparation of institutions financial statements as well as management analysis reports and internal and external financial surveys.
  • Solves problems associated with accuracy of financial information and complex accounting matters.
  • Assists with report specifications and testing of reports ad ensures accuracy, timeliness, and reporting of financial information. Ensures reports function efficiently and securely.
  • Support during the annual financial audit process and preparation of data files for auditors.
  • Assist in other accounting and finance related duties as assigned.

Ability to commute / Relocate:

Atlanta, GA 30310: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required).

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration from a regionally accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

3 year of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) experience.
