Job Description:
- Cover Letter: A (brief) cover letter or paragraph from the candidate would be very helpful. It should express strong interest and a passion for creative design work. The candidate's experience and portfolio should clearly demonstrate this enthusiasm and capability.
- Experience Level: Candidates should have 4-5 years of experience. This is a mid-level individual contributor role with senior-level scope and responsibility, though it does not involve managing others.
- Portfolio: A well-organized, easy-to-navigate design portfolio must be submitted. Candidates without a portfolio -or- whose portfolios appear cluttered or dated will not be considered.
- Portfolio Link: Candidates' resumes must include a direct link to the their portfolio.
- Relevant Work: Ideal candidates will have experience in designing customer-facing solutions, particularly in B2B contexts.
- Disqualifying Work: Please do not send technical architect or game developer resumes-we are not looking for architectural portfolios or candidates with internal-facing work experience, nor with a structural or technical focus.
- Bonus Experience: Experience in geospatial or mapping design work is a strong plus. Transit-related design experience is also helpful but not required.

- Lead the end-to-end design process, from ideation through iteration to launch.
- Develop and maintain design systems and style guides to ensure consistency across digital platforms (including all signage for NYCT/LIRR/MNR).
- Partner with UXR to understand rider needs, behaviors, and pain points; maintain a user feedback loop to continuously improve the experience.
- Establish and document UX processes and best practices.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on user needs and business goals.
- 8+ years of experience in UX design, with a focus on mobile applications.
- Proven experience leading UX for complex digital products.
- Excellent visual design skills & experience with design systems.
- Experience in the transportation industry or related fields; experience with accessibility guidelines.
