Job Description
Title: Central Office Secretary
Immediate Supervisor: Director or Designee
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. At least two (2) years of experience with school operations and/or equivalent business office experience. One year of computer experience is required. Such alternatives to the above qualifications or equivalent combination of training and experience as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable. Skills and Abilities:
Working knowledge of e-mail processes required. Working knowledge of basic office procedures and business equipment. Keyboarding proficiency-50 words per minute. Effective telephone skills required. Experience in filing and record-keeping. Demonstrated proficiency in use of computer software. Ability to exercise independent judgment. Ability to deal effectively and courteously with students, school personnel and the general public. Effective use of grammar, spelling, and business correspondence. Essential Functions:
Provides clerical support in a multi-task work environment requiring the ability to prioritize tasks carefully for the accomplishment of goals. Provides clerical support for department staff as requested. Provides clerical support for department programs as assigned. Maintains equipment and assists with inventory as requested. Maintains the confidentiality of any school system related information and sensitive employee information. Maintains proper and professional relationships with other employees. Perform duties in a manner that promotes good public relations. Follows Board policies. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent. Physical Requirements:
Well-groomed and appropriately dressed. Ability to physically navigate schools and offices. Proper use of acceptable grammar and diction. Ability to project and modulate voice in an office environment with and/or without the use of electronic aides. Possess visual acuity. Possess physical capability to stand, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds. Possess physical and emotional ability and dexterity as needed to perform required work in a fast-paced, high intensive work environment.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
