Senior General Ledger (GL) Accountant
Our client is seeking a Senior General Ledger (GL) Accountant to support the general ledger functions for several entities managed by the family office. In this role, you’ll work alongside senior leaders, including the Financial Controller and Tax Director, while playing a key part in ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Assist with various financial month-end closing responsibilities, including accounting entry adjustments, consolidated cash report preparation, related entities reconciliation, etc.
- Assist in preparation of year-end fund investment confirmation letters for all family office entities
- Prepare accurate journal entries/adjusting journal entries to true-up investment balances in accordance with the confirmation letters
- Assist with gathering financial information and tracking documents required for tax return preparation with tax service provider
- Assist with quarterly estimated tax projections and various annual or quarterly tax payments.
- Maintain various tracking sheets to monitor investment balances for entities managed by the family office on a quarterly basis
- Assisting with annual financial statements audit for Foundations managed by the family office and preparing wire requests as needed
- Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the department workflows and internal control
- Assist the Controller and/or Tax Director on special projects as directed
- Prepare investment confirmations for all family offices entities
- Help to maintain tax trackers for annual portfolio investment issued K-1s, interest and dividend income 1099s and tax return status
- Backup for monthly bank reconciliation and monthly GL close
- Backup for monthly account reconciliations
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 4-5 years of experience in full-cycle Accounts Payable/GL Accountant or Bookkeeping
- Experience working in a high net-worth family office or investment fund is a plus
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, deliver high-quality results and be flexible in handling changing priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Exceptional work ethic and “can-do” positive attitude
- Self-starter who can work independently under minimal supervision
- Must have good organizational skills with attention to details
- Able to prioritize assignments and effectively manage their time
- Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Able to take pride in the job
- Comprehensive Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, esp. proficient in Excel, and accounting software/ERP, QuickBooks highly preferred
- Great team player with good communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
