Overview
The Senior Manager of Customer Insights will enable Pompeians objectives for consumer-centric and customer-focused efforts, linking Field Sales objectives and Marketing initiatives to drive growth for the Pompeian brand and the categories in which Pompeian competes, with a focus on key national customers. This role will manage internal and external data sources to uncover insights, conduct actionable analysis, and provide recommendations to maximize resources and opportunities. The position reports to the VP of Marketing and requires 25-35% travel to corporate HQ in Baltimore, MD (once a month) and travel for account presentations as required. The role is remote, preferably with candidates in Maryland, New Jersey or Pennsylvania. Responsibilities
Support the VP of Marketing and VP of Sales with synergistic leadership to grow the olive oil market and remove silos, ensuring a consistent story for customers, consumers, stakeholders, and employees Customer Focused:
Lead strategic functions including category management, space management, product evaluation, and media optimization Develop category business reviews, present information, and build relationships with key National Accounts Own data/insights relationships at BJs, Amazon, Alb/Sfy, Kroger, Publix, Sams, Walmart, and Costco Amazon/eComm focus: Support Salsify data initiatives; deliver P-O-G development and support on B&M expansion
Consumer Centric:
Generate data-driven insights to shape Pompeians brand strategies; analyze retailing and shopper/consumer behaviors; build insights and data-driven strategies with macro-economic, consumer, and retail insights Partner with Brand Director to optimize media investment with agency support for optimization studies (Media Mix, Brand Lift, or matched panel studies as needed) Collaborate with the Director of Innovation to evaluate opportunities for new product launches and act as a trusted research consultant Coordinate with Marketing to track new item launches and benchmark against existing items or competitive launches Track Sales KPIs/goals (ACV, Sales, Distribution) Develop, deploy, and maintain consumer data tools and data sources (Nielsen HH Panel, Nielsen, EYC, Stratum) Identify, measure, and quantify brand and competitor trends and opportunities Participate in Weekly Marketing prioritization meetings and Weekly Marketing Leadership Team meetings
Supervise and develop the Category Manager, coaching and guiding to full potential; make recommendations regarding promotions and staffing Be an impartial source of truth; negotiate terms with data providers Cultivate and nurture cross-functional relationships to support strategic company initiatives Manage and develop the Business Insights team, including training for Category Management, Syndicated data, Consumer data, and MS Power Platform (Power Query, PowerPivot, Power BI, Excel) Ensure all projects comply with environmental regulations and Pompeians environmental goals Perform duties in alignment with Pompeians mission, goals and core values; promote positivity and diversity Qualifications
BS/BA in Marketing, Business or related field 57 years experience in Category Management 35 years experience in Consumer and Household channel data Experience with Nielsen, Numerator, Stratum, EYC Symphony or IRI preferred Space Management Program experience Retailer-specific portal experience (e.g., Walmart Retail Link, Aimia Kantar, Target POL, Market 6) Advanced in MS Power Platform, DAX and Power BI; MCode, DAX and Access skills; certifications preferred (e.g., P3 and/or MS certificates); MS VBA programming a plus CatMan 2.0 a plus Ability to learn new software rapidly with high data curiosity Pay & Perks
