Full Job Description
The Shipping/Warehouse Associate will be assisting the warehouse team in handling inbound and outbound orders, sorting and organizing material inside the warehouse and maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment. Operation of a forklift will be required so experience is necessary. Associate will be cross trained in general warehouse tasks to ensure maintenance of all standard operating procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment.
- Read sales order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Assist in the manual loading and unloading of inventory from incoming or outbound trucks by hand or with the use of material handling equipment such as a forklift or pallet jack.
- Sort inventory received and re-bundle into safe and proper bundles when necessary.
- Perform forklift duties, understand and know how to bundle and palletize loads properly, understand how to maximize truck loads safely and efficiently.
- Maintain files of shipping records and trace missing or lost shipments.
- Confer and correspond with staff and customers to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
- Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
- Maintain a safe, clean and orderly environment in the warehouse.
- Assist in various warehouse maintenance tasks including sweeping the floors, storing equipment in proper location, etc.
- Assist in minor assembly of products.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent communication skills with all levels of external customers and staff, including warehouse workers, office personnel and Senior Management.
- Computer skills such as MS Office programs, email, small parcel shipping programs (UPS & FEDEX).
- Extremely organized, detail oriented, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to operate a forklift, certification will be required after hire.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Required Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of experience in warehouse environment.
- Experience shipping with UPS/FEDEX/other systems.
