Core Audio Software Engineer

The Apple Media Tech (AMT) group is at the center of audio, video, and graphics in Apple’s innovative products, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods, HomePod, Apple TV and VisionPro. AMT’s Audio team provides the audio foundation for features like Game Audio, Siri, FaceTime, media capture, playback and APIs for third party developers. The team is looking for engineers who are passionate about building audio features and products for millions of customers and care about user experience. You will help revolutionize the audio experience for game and future audio technologies.
Responsibilities
Develop and debug audio system software for Apple’s platforms.
Work on the audio software stack, including routing the audio through the system and integrating with various hardware components.
Develop and improve software components responsible for running audio hardware and exposing audio features upwards through the system.
Collaborate closely with hardware driver teams and Apple technologies such as Siri, AirPods, FaceTime and AirPlay.
Minimum Qualifications
Excellent software design and programming skills in C++ with solid understanding of object-oriented methodologies, multi-threaded programming, and operating system concepts.
Experience with digital audio.
Strong debugging skills.
Preferred Qualifications
BS or MS in CS, EE, or related field.
At least two years of experience working with a team in a professional software development environment.
Experience with Bluetooth accessories is a plus.
Experience with embedded audio in devices like smartphones, tablets, or Chromebooks is a plus.
Experience with core software features like Telephony audio and/or Bluetooth audio is a plus.
Pay & Benefits Base pay is determined within a range and depends on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100. Apple employees may participate in discretionary stock programs and stock purchase plans. Benefits include comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, product discounts, and educational assistance. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses or relocation support.
