Step into a leadership role where technical excellence meets innovation. As a licensed architect, you will oversee deliverables, guide document production, and ensure seamless coordination across disciplines, including consultants. You will shape the success of Construction Phase Services alongside the PM while driving quality through QA reviews and feedback implementation. Beyond managing processes, you will foster a culture of precision and innovation in the interiors practice. Responsibilities
Responsible for ensuring the overall design intent of the project established by the Project Designer is incorporated into the detailed documentation. Monitor the design process from conceptual phase through construction administration, ensuring the design idea is consistent and properly executed. Coordinate technical resolution for a defined portion of a project and lead production of technical documentation. Perform product research and, as needed, assist the Project Manager in writing specifications. Check completed reports, plans, estimates and calculations for accuracy. Set the overall strategy for producing documents and identify sheets planned for each stage of the work, including how data will be organized into files and how elements are incorporated in a Building Information Model (BIM). Set up project team software parameters and manage standards. Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with the Project Leadership Team. Communicate with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of information into project requirements and provide support as necessary. Ensure construction detail documentation conforms to quality assurance, quality control and best practice standards. Supervise preparation of technical drawings by less senior staff; lead as a team leader on certain projects. Mentor and direct the work of less experienced staff; participate in professional development reviews and lessons learned. Takes personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable practices. Interface with clients to develop relationships of trust and communicate progress and design requirements. Regularly communicate with client representatives to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews and final delivery. Support external and internal client service commitments and teamwork with the Principal in Charge and Technical direction from leadership. Coordinate use and tracking of shared electronic documentation and files with project team, clients and consultants. Assist in planning and making minor adaptations to complete drawing sets and coordinate approvals with municipal agencies as needed. Write reports and memos to consultants and vendors to issue changes and track resolutions. Provide technical support and project communications to the team as required. Attend on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings; review contractor schedules, shop drawings and samples. Assist the Specification Writer in product research and selecting project-related materials. Involved with specification setup, drawing coordination, research and appropriate use of HOK standards. Provide support to all team members for specific markets, disciplines or areas of expertise. Participate in project issue resolution, scheduling, and coordination with other disciplines; assist with issues as needed. Prepare meeting minutes of consultant coordination meetings. May prepare 2D and 3D presentation drawings and build models for client and project team reviews. Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects. Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture required. 10+ years of interiors workplace experience preferred. Registered Architect with current license required; NCARB registration preferred. Project size about 30,000 SF plus experience considered. LEED credential required within 12 months of employment. Skills & Competencies
Creative talent in conceptual design with rendering skills (hand or digital). Knowledge of design trends, construction methodology, materials and manufacturer-supplier suitability. Advanced knowledge of FF&E, finishes, lighting, signage, art, and color to carry out design intent. Strong knowledge of building regulations and safety codes; production of precise technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models. Understanding of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines. Ability to prioritize deadlines and deliver high-quality service to clients. Proficiency in interior design software and related tools (Deltek Vision highly preferred; MS Office; Revit preferred; Adobe Affinity, SketchUp, InDesign). The job duties and requirements described may be altered or supplemented at any time at the sole discretion of HOK. Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, education and location.
