Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced
Business Development Manager
to join our team in Northern California. This is a dynamic, client-facing role for someone who is passionate about the design and construction industry and thrives on building strong, lasting relationships. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, confident individual with experience working with architects, contractors, and other industry professionals. After the initial training period, this role shifts to primarily remote work, with the majority of your time spent meeting clients face-to-face at their offices. You will be meeting with the top architectural firms, general contractors, and installing subcontractors to support the specification and sale of the high-performance architectural systems in our product line. Meetings will be primarily in San Francisco and across Northern California, with additional travel to Southern California and Reno as needed. Key Responsibilities
Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong partnerships with architects, designers, general contractors, installers, consultants, engineers, and developers throughout the territory. Product Promotion:
Actively promote and support the specification of our range of architectural products, including: Ceiling Systems:
Suspended specialty ceilings (wood grilles, perforated wood, perforated metal, metal baffles, fiberglass clouds, felt, GFRG, perforated drywall, and other specialty ceiling products). Acoustical Systems:
Acoustical door/window assemblies, acoustical barriers, acoustical louvers, vibration isolation systems, acoustical plaster. Exterior Facades:
Woven metal mesh, lightweight porcelain/stone rainscreens, and perforated metal screen systems. Presentations & Education:
Conduct technical product presentations and deliver continuing education courses (CEUs) for architectural and design firms to strengthen brand presence, expand product knowledge, spark design innovation, and generate demand. Market Analysis:
Apply anticipatory thinking and strategic foresight to monitor industry trends. Identify competitive/equal products, emerging design trends, and project delivery methods to identify new sales opportunities. Required Qualifications
A minimum of 8 years experience working in the Bay Area in one of the following commercial construction roles: outside sales representative, acoustical consultant, architect, general contractor, ceiling subcontractor. Strong technical knowledge of building materials and the architectural specification process. Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills. Self-motivated and able to work independently with a high degree of accountability and attention to detail. Ability to read, interpret, and communicate architectural drawings and construction documents, with a strong understanding of design intent, technical detailing, and coordination with architects, consultants, and contractors. Proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Slides, Meet, etc). Must have a reliable personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel independently to client offices and project sites throughout the Bay Area and broader territory. Preferred Qualifications
Experience using a CRM system to manage client data. A bachelor’s degree in Business, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. An existing network of contacts within the architectural and construction communities in Northern California. Proficiency in industry-standard design software (AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, or similar). Fundamental understanding of architectural photography, in support of content development for marketing materials and client presentations.
