Overview
The Director of Commercial Lines serves as a strategic and results-driven leader, responsible for guiding the overall direction, performance, and daily operations of the Commercial Lines department. This role is critical in delivering exceptional client service, optimizing operational workflows, and fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can seamlessly step into any function within the department, whether supporting service teams as an Assistant Account Manager, addressing client needs, or partnering with producers and executive leadership to execute high-impact strategic initiatives. This position demands a balance of tactical execution and forward-thinking leadership to drive growth and ensure continued excellence. Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and support the Commercial Lines team to meet departmental goals and service standards. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth. Conduct regular performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and disciplinary action when necessary. Partner with HR on recruiting, onboarding, and development of Commercial Lines staff. Operational Excellence: Monitor workflows and staffing levels to ensure timely and accurate service delivery. Step in and assist in any capacity neededfilling in for absent team members, supporting complex accounts, or training new hires. Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, consistency, and accuracy. Maintain clear documentation of procedures and service standards. Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with Producers to support retention and new business growth. Collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure smooth transitions from new business placement to servicing. Participate in goal setting and business planning with the Executive Team. Track department KPIs and ensure alignment with agency goals. Client Service & Quality Control: Serve as an escalation point for client concerns, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolution. Oversee quality control of client deliverables, renewals, and documentation standards. Ensure compliance with agency policies, carrier guidelines, and industry regulations. Qualifications
Minimum 7+ years of experience in Commercial Lines insurance, including leadership or supervisory roles. Active Property & Casualty license required. Strong understanding of various commercial insurance products, coverages, and markets. High proficiency with agency management systems and technology tools (e.g., AMS360, EPIC, or similar). Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to lead a team and drive performance. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
