Be a person of influence at Abcam’s Waltham site, serving as a primary legal and compliance contact in the US. Lead a contracts team and drive efficient contracting processes through CLM, while pursuing continuous process improvement initiatives. Lead the legal support for global sales and business development teams; negotiate and draft MSAs, custom development agreements, supply agreements, licenses, collaboration agreements, research agreements, and related documents. Partner with internal and external specialists on IP, employment, regulatory, compliance, M&A, joint ventures/strategic partnerships, and other matters; manage US-based disputes including litigation. Develop and deliver training for the global business on legal issues, policies, and procedures; represent the Legal function in leadership meetings and contribute to good business conduct. Essential Qualifications
Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. Minimum of 7 years of practice as a U.S.-licensed attorney, ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house experience, preferably in the life sciences industry. Ability to manage a global client base and calendar, balancing numerous cross-functional matters with sound prioritization. Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and mentoring abilities; capable of guiding a legal team. Excellent communication skills with associates at all levels, adopting a service-oriented, business-minded approach to the practice of law. Team player with a collaborative, constructive mindset and a proactive, results-oriented attitude. Nice to Have
Experience identifying process gaps, implementing process improvements, and creating standard work to drive efficiency. Experience drafting and implementing policies and procedures and creating templates for agreements. Other
