1898 & Co., a division of Burns & McDonnell, is seeking a Senior Solution Architect focused on Operational Technologies to provide utility grid modernization consulting services for electric utility clients. The candidate will join the Enterprise System & Integration team, delivering high-value enterprise solutions using leading technologies. The role requires strong electric utility business and technical acumen, with expertise in solutions like ADMS, DERMS, IEC-61850 Digital Substations, BESS, and related networks (LAN, WAN, FAN). Candidates should demonstrate project execution skills, leadership, collaboration, excellent communication, and a focus on innovation and quality. The Senior Enterprise Systems Solution Architect will guide strategic planning, research, and implementation, advising executive leaders on investment decisions aligned with long-term organizational goals. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and implementing technology solutions, managing project lifecycle, ensuring quality, fostering client relationships, and leading sales efforts. The role also involves mentoring staff, ensuring compliance, and supporting departmental growth. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or related field; 7+ years of relevant experience (experience may substitute for degree). Skills in data architecture, cloud architecture, middleware, and communication systems. Understanding of IT and OT enterprise solutions, with experience in project methodologies like Waterfall and Agile. Experience with electric utility operational systems (e.g., OMS, ADMS, SCADA, DERMS, IEC-61850, Fiber networks). Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. This position is open until filled, with a minimum of 72 hours posting. It is a full-time role based in the US with travel requirements (~25%).
