Patent Attorney – Electrical Engineering Focus
— Denver/ Boulder, CO OUR CLIENT: A leading intellectual property law firm with deep roots in Colorado is seeking a Patent Attorney with 2–4 years of experience to join its growing team in the Denver/Boulder area. The firm is nationally recognized for its sophisticated patent practice, entrepreneurial culture, and collaborative, flexible work environment. Attorneys here have the opportunity to work directly with innovators, entrepreneurs, and established companies at the forefront of technology, particularly in renewable energy, software, electronics, and other cutting-edge fields. The Position
Responsibilities: Draft and prosecute high-quality patent applications in the electrical, computer, and related technology spaces. Provide strategic counseling to clients regarding patent portfolio development, freedom-to-operate, and IP strategy. Respond to USPTO office actions and collaborate with inventors, engineers, and business leaders to capture and protect innovations. Support the firm’s broader intellectual property practice, including due diligence, licensing, and enforcement matters as needed. Qualifications: J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one state bar (Colorado preferred or willingness to waive in). Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Undergraduate or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field. 2–4 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience, ideally within a law firm environment. Strong technical and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail and writing ability. Collaborative, self-motivated, and eager to work directly with clients in a team-oriented environment.
