The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at USG Insurance Services is responsible for the leadership, strategy, and day-to-day management of all technology operations company-wide. This includes overseeing software development, infrastructure and support services, third-party vendor relationships, cybersecurity, proprietary systems, and enterprise platforms. The CTO enables business success through reliable, scalable, and secure technology systems. Responsibilities
Technology Leadership & Oversight
Direct and manage all IT departments including: Software Development (Engineering, QA, Business Analysis) Infrastructure & Support (System Support Analysts, Systems Management) Cybersecurity & Risk
Provide vision and execution for technology strategy aligned with USG’s operational needs. Vendor & Contract Management
Oversee relationships and contracts with key technology partners and vendors: MSA (Managed Services, Private Cloud, Infrastructure) Abacode (Cybersecurity & SOC) Xtium (Network Equipment & Microsoft Licensing) Lumen (Private Circuits & Teams Calling) Vertafore, Sage, CDW, Network Solutions, and others
Ensure compliance with licensing and manage renewals. Systems & Platform Management
Manage and support core technology platforms: Proprietary Systems: AMx, I3x, INSLink Operational Software: Sage (Finance), ImageRight (Document Management), Microsoft 365, Citrix, SQL Server Microsoft Stack: Teams, Entra ID, SharePoint, Exchange, DNS, Active Directory, Licensing Cybersecurity & Compliance
Partner with Abacode to manage cybersecurity monitoring (SOC alerts, vulnerability scans, pen tests) Coordinate with internal teams on policy development and implementation Manage compliance and risk oversight across all systems and vendors Infrastructure & Network Support
Oversee system performance, updates, and configurations across all platforms Respond to and manage alerts 24/7 from MSA, Abacode, and Xtium Manage mobile notifications and ensure constant situational awareness for critical systems Staff & Department Development
Lead staffing efforts for IT roles: define positions, recruit, interview, hire, and onboard Manage cross-functional collaboration and performance of the IT team Foster a culture of communication, accountability, and continuous improvement System Integration & Functionality Support
Provide oversight for system integrations (especially between Sage, I3x, AMx, and ImageRight) Assist with issue resolution related to renewals, policies, finance data feeds, and performance bottlenecks Coordinate troubleshooting efforts that require CTO-level intervention What We Are Looking For
Proven experience (7–10+ years) in IT leadership, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry Strong understanding of infrastructure, enterprise systems, cybersecurity, and software development Experience managing third-party vendors and contracts Solid working knowledge of Microsoft 365, SQL Server, Citrix, and enterprise finance platforms (e.g., Sage) Ability to lead high-performing technical teams with clarity and accountability Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required; Master’s degree or technical certifications preferred Leadership Attributes
