Overview The Collaboration Services Engineer plays a pivotal role in enhancing productivity and communication within Infrastructure Services by facilitating the integration and maintenance of a diverse array of productivity tools. The Collaboration Services Engineer participates in designing, implementing, and maintaining tailored productivity solutions to maintain the infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, ensure security protocols, and help deliver user training. Working closely with stakeholders across academic, medical, research, and administrative units at UCSF, the Collaboration Services Engineer will support opportunities to introduce new tools and modernize existing ones, all aimed at elevating the overall customer experience. In partnership with key internal teams and external vendors, the Engineer assists with initiatives to streamline processes and workflows, prioritizing both security and compliance. The role works extensively with the Senior Engineer(s) and the Lead, Collaboration Services to optimize productivity systems. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $108,000 - $162,000 (Annual Rate). The Digital Workplace Services team within Infrastructure Services is responsible for managing and maintaining UCSF's integrated communications, collaboration, and audio-visual systems. This encompasses a wide array of technologies such as telephony, voicemail, audiovisual technology, video conferencing, and collaboration platforms. The department ensures seamless connectivity and efficient communication across various departments, supporting the institution's mission of providing high-quality healthcare, education, and research. The team plays a crucial role in implementing and optimizing digital workplace solutions to meet the diverse needs of faculty, clinicians, staff, and students, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency and collaboration within UCSF. Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain tailored productivity solutions to enhance collaboration and infrastructure reliability. Troubleshoot issues, ensure security protocols, and provide user training. Collaborate with stakeholders across academic, medical, research, and administrative units; partner with internal teams and external vendors to modernize tools and optimize workflows. Work with Senior Engineers and Leads to optimize productivity systems and ensure compliance with security policies. Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience/training in information technology, computer science, public administration, business administration, or communications. 3 to 5+ years of experience in IT, computer science, or related fields. Advanced skills in programming design, modification, and implementation; basic knowledge of secure software development; ability to create software specifications. Experience installing software, troubleshooting, and repairing moderately complex problems with computing devices, peripherals, and software; experience with incident response and digital forensics. Knowledge of business and process analysis; design, development, and application of technology to meet business needs. Experience with database administration, including advanced querying and data modeling. Familiarity with data design, mapping or conversion; security tools and best practices for server-based software. Ability to write technical documentation clearly; understanding of how system management actions affect related functions. Interpersonal skills to work with technical and non-technical personnel; ability to communicate complex concepts clearly. Experience supporting and optimizing Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Teams, Intune, Azure AD) and Active Directory/LDAP. Experience with messaging technologies (e.g., Proofpoint, FireEye EX, LISTSERV). Knowledge of network systems and protocols (LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP); experience creating technical documentation and troubleshooting procedures. Experience using automation tools (PowerShell, Unix shell scripting, APIs) to streamline tasks and integrate systems. Ability to present technical concepts to diverse audiences in business-friendly terms. Preferred Qualifications

Certifications: Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert, Fundamentals, Collaboration Communications Systems Engineer Associate, Teams Administrator Associate, or equivalent. Experience in incident response and digital forensics; knowledge of business analysis and software specification creation. Experience with complex database management systems; familiarity with digital workplace technologies (Box, Slack, Google Workspace, Confluence, Miro).
