The Collaboration Services Engineer at

The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining tailored productivity solutions to support the infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, ensure security protocols, and deliver user training. Working with stakeholders across academic, medical, research, and administrative units, the engineer helps introduce new tools and modernize existing ones to elevate the overall customer experience. The role collaborates with internal teams and external vendors to streamline processes and workflows, prioritizing security and compliance, and works closely with the Senior Engineer(s) and the Lead, Collaboration Services to optimize productivity systems. The final salary and offer components are subject to UC policy. Placement within the salary range depends on work experience and internal equity within the position classification at UCSF. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range follows the collective bargaining agreement rules. The salary range for this position is
$108,000 - $150,000

Support opportunities to introduce new tools and modernize existing productivity solutions within UCSF’s Digital Workplace Services. Design, implement, and maintain productivity tools to support secure, reliable IT infrastructure. Troubleshoot issues, ensure security protocols, and deliver user training as needed. Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to streamline processes and workflows. Optimize productivity systems in partnership with Senior Engineer(s) and the Lead, Collaboration Services. Ensure IT infrastructure is operable, secure, and efficient in service of UCSF’s mission. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in information technology, computer science, public administration, business administration, communications, or related fields. 3 to 5+ years of experience in IT, computer science, computer information systems, or similar areas. Advanced skills in programming design, modification, and implementation; basic knowledge of secure software development; ability to create software specifications. Experience installing software, troubleshooting, and repairing moderately complex computing issues; experience with incident response and digital forensics (data collection, examination, and analysis). Knowledge of business and process analysis; ability to design and apply technology to meet business needs. Experience with database administration, including database management systems and design; advanced querying and data modeling skills. Familiarity with data design, mapping, or conversion; strong understanding of computer security tools, policies, and best practices; ability to administer security controls. Ability to write clear technical documentation and to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience supporting and optimizing Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Teams, Intune, Azure AD), with knowledge of Active Directory and LDAP. Experience with messaging technologies (e.g., Proofpoint, FireEye EX, LISTSERV) and network fundamentals (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP). Experience creating technical documentation and using automation tools (PowerShell, Unix shell scripting, APIs) to streamline tasks and integrate systems. Preferred Qualifications
Certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert, Fundamentals, Collaboration Communications Systems Engineer Associate, Teams Administrator Associate, or equivalent. Experience with digital workplace technologies (e.g., Box, Slack, Google Workspace, Confluence, Miro). About UCSF
