Buyer II
We are seeking a Buyer II to support procurement and supply chain activities with a focus on international vendors, particularly in China and Asia. This role is responsible for executing purchase orders, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring materials are delivered on time to support manufacturing and customer deployments. The Buyer II will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and finance teams to ensure procurement decisions align with technical requirements, cost targets, and delivery schedules. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced startup environment. Responsibilities Create, issue, and track purchase orders; follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery. Act as primary point of contact for day-to-day communication with vendors in China/Asia; handle lead times, pricing, and order status updates. Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and BOMs to ensure suppliers deliver the correct parts. Obtain competitive quotes, analyze bids, and make recommendations that balance cost, lead time, and quality. Monitor stock levels, identify shortages, and support material replenishment to keep production running smoothly. Assist in onboarding and maintaining approved suppliers, including supporting audits and compliance checks. Partner with quality and engineering teams to resolve supplier issues related to delivery or part quality. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of purchase orders, supplier information, and transactions within ERP/Notion systems. Identify opportunities to improve procurement workflows, streamline communications, and reduce costs. Essential Skills Experience in purchasing and buying, particularly from China and Asia. Strong negotiation skills. Ability to build and maintain relationships. Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Detail-oriented and organized. Comfortable working across multiple teams. Experience in a startup environment is a plus. Work Environment This role is based in Watertown, MA, and operates in a hybrid model, requiring 2-3 days in the office per week. The company is a small startup currently supplying robotics technology to major logistics companies, offering a dynamic and fast-paced work environment. Employees have potential for equity/stock if the company is acquired. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Watertown, MA Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
