Responsibilities

  • Load trucks with a front end loader and cement silo; accompany the gunite crew to each job and assist with setup, including unloading an air-driven hopper and rolling out hoses.
  • Assist the gunite crew with jobsite setup, environmental protection, and protection of surrounding real property.
  • Operate the sand/cement transfer from the truck into the hopper and regulate air flow from the compressor as needed.
  • On completion of each job, help clean up the site and reload equipment. There are two drivers per crew; when one driver runs material, the other ensures both the mixing auger on the truck and the spare hopper are chipped out.
  • Maintain communication with the gunite crew using established methods (e.g., hand signals) to ensure proper material flow to the nozzle.
  • Assist with set up and break down of jobsite tools and equipment; keep guns clean; lubricate chains on the batch truck daily; keep mixing augers chipped, cleaned, and greased daily.
  • Batch truck drivers and gunmen are responsible for whips and bull hoses.

Qualifications

  • One year of commercial driving experience; valid Class A or B CDL.
  • Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to the construction industry.
  • Working knowledge of methods, materials, and tools used in the construction industry.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to operate manual transmission.
