General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to engage in these tasks during all working hours and perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require. The Associate may be asked to perform additional tasks in specific situations if doing so helps achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment. Maintains clear egress to emergency exits and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times. Recognizes fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
- Assists Customers as needed — is register-trained, assists with merchandise, and answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Greets Customers by making eye contact, smiling, and saying hello; thanks Customers at each register transaction.
- Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers. Responds to Customer Service calls promptly and escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies) and disinfects high-touch areas to maintain store cleanliness and presentation.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company dress code.
- Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, organized, and merchandised to standards.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandises items per guidelines, and maintains brand name familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
- Understands Loss Prevention, MOS policies, and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Follows MOS policies and proper processing for disposals and store procedures for cash, checks, cards, refunds, voids, and offline transactions.
- Demonstrates urgency to perform duties efficiently and aligns with Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Ability to effectively communicate with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly and respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/Ada
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
- Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
- Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
