General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform a range of tasks in all areas of the Store as business needs require.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports any unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; friendly and professional at all times; recognizes fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assists Customers as needed — is register-trained, helps with merchandise, answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; greets Customers and thanks them at each register transaction.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; responds to Service calls and resolves issues courteously, involving Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks to maintain merchandise, customer and Team areas, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, restocking restrooms, and disinfecting high-touch areas.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and well-merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandising per monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understands Loss Prevention, MOS policies, and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise; demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions.
  • Follows policies regarding cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, and offline procedures; maintains accuracy with tenders.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and minimize unnecessary steps.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
  • Ability to regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom associates: Ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
