Position Summary


We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Data Analyst.


The Institute for Excellence in Health Equity (IEHE) is seeking a qualified Data Analyst to lead the development of the Health Equity Data Hub. The Health Equity Data Hub is a comprehensive resource aimed at empowering researchers, educators, and clinicians to conduct research addressing health disparities, social determinants of health, and other key factors affecting health equity. The Data Analyst will work closely with IEHE senior leadership to advance health equity across the health system through a variety of research and operational initiatives aligned with the goals of the health system.


The Data Analyst will be responsible for extracting, cleaning, and analyzing electronic health record (EHR) data that will be used to support a wide range of initiatives. The individual day-to-day activities will include data querying, data extraction, data analysis, data visualization, and results dissemination. The successful candidate will have a high degree of professional maturity, commitment to excellence, independence, flexibility, and initiative, and will possess the ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals, teams, and populations both internally and externally.



Job Responsibilities



  • Execute queries on databases to respond to the needs of partners and external requests from collaborators, policymakers, donors, and other stakeholders.

  • Write queries to extract data from electronic health records.

  • Create secondary data sets from databases to support new and ongoing initiatives.

  • Perform reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of data.

  • Develop and document code that can be used by a diverse range of individuals to solve commonly encountered problems and implement widely used analyses.

  • Create and maintain data dictionaries and other metadata resources to share with other analysts.

  • Analyze and summarize data.

  • Create effective forms of data visualization, tailored to program and stakeholder needs.

  • Understand and follow all data security requirements.

  • Provide technical assistance and support to stakeholders to help them use data resources effectively and creatively.

  • Participate in project meetings and workgroups to share knowledge and best practices.



Minimum Qualifications


To qualify you must have a Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of professional research experience OR a Master’s degree in clinical informatics; information management; statistics; biostatistics; epidemiology; public health; health care administration; computer science or similar field.


Strong quantitative skills and advanced programming skills in R and/or SAS.


Experience with database queries and SQL;


Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.


Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills.



  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills

  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems



Preferred Qualifications


Experience working in an academic medical center


Interest in advancing health equity


Action-oriented and eager to embrace new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm


Experience with EHR clinical data and working on qualitative and quantitative analysis


Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Salary: The salary range for the role is $64,350.00 - $76,320.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on factors including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. This range does not include bonuses or other compensation.
