As an Investment Data Management professional, you will serve as the primary liaison between the business and Technology, developing and driving data and analytic strategies and solutions to deliver prioritized business capabilities. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining the vision for the data ecosystem, focusing on improving efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of data-driven business processes and decisions. Your role provides business-minded thought leadership throughout all phases of data development, including intake, work initiation, requirement gathering and iteration planning and project estimations. You will serve as the data-related voice of the customer in translating functional data and analytic requirements into solutions for consumption and use by the respective business area, managing communications between Technology and business, resolving blockers/questions/support needs, conducting/coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and approving releases. You will evaluate potential data impacts, coordinate with stakeholders, and serve as steward for data governance, access rights/audits and defect resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Identifies, executes, and communicates data strategy opportunities, defining long-term goals and KPIs to foster a data-driven culture aligned with business priorities.
Consults and provides direction on acquisition, curation, and consumption of data for analytical and operational uses, producing data source documentation and assisting with reference data and mastering rules to ensure a single version of the truth across data consumers.
Collaborates on mapping end-to-end data flow and business processes or technical interfaces and recommends solutions.
Develops collaborative relationships with business, Technology, and vendor partners, communicating data impacts and promoting transparency around data issue identification and resolution.
Prompts data, reporting and analytic requirements from business requestors to generate solutions.
Participates in planning and execution of UAT, triage issues and coordinates with the development team on remediation to ensure data integrity.
Performs data management activities, including classifying information into logical categories, generating data lineage, developing data quality and transformation rules, conducting complex data profiling, implementing data monitoring techniques using standardized tools, reviewing daily exceptions, reloading data, and applying data overrides as necessary.
Uses moderate to complex visualization techniques to present data in support of business needs.
Enforces data governance structure, standards, and procedures to ensure data is well-defined, consistent, accurate, accessible, and secure.
Governs all data access requests and has final right of refusal for accesses.
Demonstrates knowledge of investment asset classes and data elements critical to supporting business processes.
Integrates emerging data and analytic trends, competitive research, and industry best practices into Nationwide.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Typical Skills and Experiences
Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, business, statistics, math, a related field or comparable experience and education strongly preferred. Graduate studies in business, statistics, math, computer science or a related field are a plus.
License/Certification/Designation: Certifications are not required but encouraged.
Experience: 6-10 years of relevant experience with data management organization/standards or practices. Experience engaging business leaders, data architects and external consultants to identify and fill gaps in data and analytics environment. Proficient in data acquisition, data wrangling and/or data visualization techniques and tools (SQL, R, Python, Tableau, Power BI, etc.), and cloud technologies – Azure and AWS (Redshift, S3, EC2, etc.). Experience in statistical analysis, interpreting results in determining data quality and fit for purpose. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Data application and practices knowledge, with expertise using SQL to perform data analysis (experience in Snowflake and Databricks preferred)
Sound decision making and strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Interpersonal skills and effective written and oral communication
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs
Demonstrated ability to build relationships, facilitate meetings, influence others, and set priorities
