Investment Data Analyst – Nationwide

This position will be hired on a SuccessFlex basis. The hired associate must reside within 35 miles of the Columbus, OH location: One Nationwide Plaza, Columbus OH 43215. Work schedule: 3 days in office, 2 days remote.

As an Investment Data Management professional, you will serve as the primary liaison between the business and Technology, developing and driving data and analytic strategies to deliver prioritized business capabilities. You will create and maintain the vision for the data ecosystem, focusing on improving efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of data-driven processes and decisions. You will provide business-minded leadership through all phases of data development, including intake, requirement gathering, iteration planning and project estimations. You will translate functional data and analytic requirements into solutions for consumption by the business area, manage communications between Technology and business, resolve blockers, coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and approve releases. You will evaluate data impacts, coordinate with stakeholders, and steward data governance, access rights/audits and defect resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, executes, and communicates data strategy opportunities, defining long-term goals and KPIs to support a data-driven culture aligned with business priorities.
  • Advises on acquisition, curation, and consumption of data for analytical and operational uses; documents data sources and assists with mastering rules to ensure a single version of the truth across data consumers.
  • Collaborates on mapping end-to-end data flow and business processes or technical interfaces, and recommends solutions.
  • Builds relationships with business, Technology, and vendor partners; communicates data impacts and promotes transparency around data issues and resolutions.
  • Gathers data, reporting, and analytic requirements from business requestors to generate solutions.
  • Participates in planning and execution of UAT; triages issues and works with the development team on remediation to ensure data integrity.
  • Performs data management activities including data classification, data lineage, data quality rules, data profiling, data monitoring, exception review, data reloads, and overrides as needed.
  • Uses visualization techniques to present data in support of business needs.
  • Enforces data governance standards to ensure data is well-defined, accurate, accessible, and secure; manages data access requests with final approval rights.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of investment asset classes and data elements critical to business processes; integrates emerging data trends and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, MIS, business, statistics, math, or related field; graduate studies are a plus.
  • Experience: 6-10 years in data management/standards; experience engaging business leaders, data architects, and external consultants; proficient in data acquisition, wrangling, and visualization tools (SQL, R, Python, Tableau, Power BI); cloud technologies (Azure and AWS) such as Redshift, S3, EC2. Insurance/financial services knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge, Abilities & Skills: SQL expertise (Snowflake/Databricks preferred); strong analytical and communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team; adaptability to changing technology; relationship-building and prioritization abilities.
