Overview

Utah Housing Corporation, located in West Valley City, Utah, is seeking a detail-oriented full-time Accountant to join our Financial Services team and help ensure the financial integrity of our organization.

This position supports routine accounting functions under the direction of the Financial Services leadership team. The Accountant prepares and reconciles accounting reports, develops and interprets financial statements, and presents or explains work during audits or other reviews. The role requires a thorough knowledge of accounting principles and the ability to navigate computerized finance and banking systems with a high degree of skill and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting processes such as preparing journal entries, reviewing and reconciling financial transactions, processing accounts payable, and ensuring timely and accurate payments and transfers.
  • Prepare and reconcile accounting reports; develop and interpret financial statements; present outcomes during audits or other reviews.
  • Support audit preparation, monthly and quarterly general ledger entries, and reconciliations with the MSP servicing system.
  • Review financial issues within the unit and analyze information from various sources to identify patterns or trends.
  • Provide accurate reporting to support decision-making and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • At least two years of full-time paid professional accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of accounting theory and practice.
  • Ability to work with spreadsheets and banking functions; capable of managing multiple deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
