This position involves journeyman-level electrical work: repairing and maintaining electrical wiring; evaluating layout plans and cost estimates; installing new systems; repairing existing high and low voltage electrical systems; performing minor rebuilding tasks; and repairing or replacing miscellaneous equipment. Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective repair and maintenance of all electrical equipment in the District.
- Inspect electrical installations of contractors to ensure compliance with specifications and electrical codes.
- Evaluate and estimate the cost of electrical repair and minor installations for new and/or remodeled projects.
- Plan layout and install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.
- Respond to electrical emergency situations, when requested.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited high school with a high school diploma or possess a GED; Plus, four (4) years’ experience in commercial electrical installation and/or maintenance. Memphis and Shelby County Journeyman Electrical License required. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).
Degree Equivalency Formula: Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years plus required years of experience; Master’s Degree = 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT (S)
- Memphis and Shelby County Journeyman Electrical License required.
This position will work in MSCS Zone 1 and Zone 3.
