The Human Resources Department at the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center is dedicated to meeting the needs of our diverse and renowned veterinary workforce. We are looking for a creative and resourceful HR Generalist to support our department in ensuring smooth and efficient delivery of our services throughout our organization. Job Summary

The Human Resources Generalist will support AMC staff as the main point of contact for employees’ queries on HR related topics. The HR Generalist will undertake a wide range of HR functions and work closely with the Human Resources team members. The primary areas of responsibility include onboarding, employee relations, data & metrics reporting, coordination of new employee orientation, coordination of training initiatives, performance management, employee benefits administration, and employment law compliance. The HR Generalist will help with routine tasks and provide administrative support to meet the increasing demands of the HR Department.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the recruitment process, including managing requisitions and employee change processes, including coordinating employment offers and onboarding/orientation of new hires.
  • Be the primary backup for HRIS-payroll processing, including bi-weekly and semi-monthly updates to employee files, bonus/incentive pay, tracking vacation/sick pay, importing expense reimbursements, inputting exceptions, updating employee changes in HRIS, and benefit changes.
  • Responsible for maintaining licensing records, DEA expirations.
  • Participate in the development of HR KPI systems by tracking certain metrics, conducting queries, and providing standard reports for ongoing company requirements.
  • Function as initial point of contact for employee safety issues, including worker’s compensation management.
  • Serves as HR representative on the Safety Committee.
  • Function as initial point of contact for employees inquiries on basic employee benefit questions and concerns, and coordinate with the HR Manager and outside services for open enrollment and other benefits issues.
  • Maintain in depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Assist HR Coordinators with coordination of the volunteer programs as needed.
  • Participate in the execution and monitoring of HR programs and other employee events and processes as assigned.
  • Function as liaison to third-party vendors for employee benefits issues, including COBRA administration.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of Human Resources experience
  • Excellent communication skills, people skills, ethics, and cultural awareness
  • High problem-solving aptitude and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, HRIS systems, and comfortable learning new technical systems as needed
  • Proven experience working in an HR department
  • Natural interpersonal and communication skills
  • Detail oriented and resourceful
  • Initiative-taker
  • Knowledge of HR federal laws and regulations
  • Working knowledge of ADP-Workforce Now
  • Knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems
  • Additional HR training or certifications is a plus

Pay Range

$75,000 - $95,000 USD
