Job Scope
Responsible for performing HR-administration related duties on a professional level and under the direction of the Director of Talent & Culture. The HR Generalist supports day-to-day functions of the Human Resources Team, as well as supports the following functional areas: payroll, benefits, onboarding, recruitment support, training/professional development, compliance tracking, and employment relations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provides recruitment support – updates job descriptions, screens applicants, coordinates interviews, attending career fairs, and supports additional talent acquisition functions as needed.
- Provides general day-to-day support for Human Resources functions, including monitoring and responding to the HR inbox, directing inquiries, routing requests, maintaining files, and maintaining departmental organization.
- Supports benefits administration and payroll processing – works alongside Benefits Coordinator to partner with benefits broker, vendor management, claims resolution, change reporting, reviewing and reconciling invoices (medical, dental, life & disability)
- Responsible for benefits portal administration – directs employees to make changes in coverage and information updates; assists in leading benefits orientation
- Supports with employee onboarding paperwork, maintains and updates employee information and files; assists with new hire process
- Assists with coordinating FMLA, ADA, and additional types of leave; answers employee questions and manages procedures
- Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
- Assists with tracking and documenting FMLA requests, LOA requests (STD/LTD/Unpaid), W/C claims & ADA cases
- Assists with annual EEO-1 reporting and OSHA reporting requirements
- Assist in coordinating professional development efforts and trainings
- Communicate Human Resources information to employees, ensure compliance with all HR requirements.
- Cultivate relationships with staff members and vendors.
- Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures as assigned; lead training when necessary
- Support the Employee Relations Specialist in notetaking, record-keeping, and in investigations as required
- Participates in department staff meetings, supervision, and attends other meetings/trainings as assigned
- Supports additional projects as assigned
Travel
- The employee is required to travel by automobile to and from Schaumburg, Elk Grove Township, and other office locations as much as several times monthly as well as occasional meetings/trainings in and around KYC’s catchment area.
- Employee will attend recruitment events throughout Chicagoland, as much as several times per month, during peak recruitment seasons.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in related field of study
- Three (3) to five (5) years human resources experience required
- Preferred experience as an HR Generalist, with experience in any combination of the following competencies: Payroll Administration, Benefits Administration, Talent Acquisition / Recruitment, Employee Relations, Training & Development, Leave Management, and additional specialties
- Excellent computer skills; experience using an HRIS and managing employee files, documents, and spreadsheets
Schedule/Time Keeping
- Full-time, Salaried, Exempt, 37.5 hour work week
