Overview

We’re seeking a hands-on and people-focused HR Generalist to join our dynamic and established company in the beauty industry. This is a high-impact role supporting a workforce of over 100 employees, where you’ll be the go-to resource for employees and leadership alike. You’ll manage all aspects of HR, from payroll and compliance to employee relations, benefits, and performance management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee full-cycle HR operations including payroll, benefits, compliance, and employee relations
  • Process bi-weekly payroll through ADP for 100+ employees, including out-of-state staff
  • Handle employee relations including coaching, conflict resolution, performance issues, and investigations
  • Oversee benefits administration, including annual open enrollment, 401(k) plan management and employee communication and support
  • Administer leaves of absence and maintain compliance with state and federal laws (FMLA, CFRA, PDL, etc.)
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims and assist with audits and risk management
  • Review and approve benefit plan invoices and temp agency billing for accuracy and timely processing
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and offboarding to ensure a seamless employee experience
  • Maintain accurate and compliant personnel files, I-9s, training records, and labor law postings
  • Support HR programs such as performance management, engagement, training, and recognition
  • Partner with leadership to uphold a positive, compliant, and productive workplace culture
  • Perform administrative HR tasks and assist with special projects as needed

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of HR generalist experience with a strong foundation in payroll, benefits, and compliance
  • Proficient in ADP Workforce Now, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office; tech-savvy and adaptable
  • Solid understanding of California and federal employment laws
  • Proven experience managing workers’ comp claims and risk-related audits
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; bilingual in Spanish is a plus
  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) or HR-related degree preferred
  • Experience in beauty, manufacturing, distribution or e-commerce environments a plus
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful, and collaborative with a proactive mindset
