The Substance Use Counselor is responsible for providing high quality, compassionate care through various mediums that includes intakes, individual and group counseling, treatment assessment, treatment planning, and case management as needed. The position may require conducting intakes for the SUTS OP team and serving an ethnically and socio-economically diverse population, often including clients with co-occurring Substance Use and Mental Health Disorders. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Provide direct counseling services, including individual and group counseling, treatment assessment and planning, and case management as needed. Plan and administer therapeutic treatment such as behavior modification and stress management therapy to assist clients in controlling disorders and other problems. Modify approach based on client reactions as indicated. Communicate progress toward treatment goals with the client. Refer clients to supportive services to supplement treatment and counseling. Maintain accurate client records and complete all agency-required reports and paperwork. Comply with San Mateo County Substance Use and DHCS contract documentation and auditing standards and requirements in a timely manner. Participate in group and individual supervision. Monitor clinical documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with County Drug Medi-Cal and waiver regulations. If BBS licensed, provide clinical support and documentation support to non-LPHA status substance abuse counselors in signing off on medical necessity for new intake clients and provide clinical and documentation support for re-authorization with the SUTS team. May train peers as needed and requested by management. Monitor and maintain compliance with clinical chart requirements and agency audit standards. Foster a cooperative, teamwork-oriented environment consistent with Caminar\'s mission and policies. Qualifications And Skills

Experience providing substance use or behavioral health services; two years preferred. High School Diploma or GED required. CA BBS registration AMFT, CA BSS registered as an AMFT, ASW, APCC preferred. AOD certification preferred through CCAPP, CAADE or CADTP at minimum if not CA BBBS registered or licensed. Understanding and experience delivering services to ethnically and economically diverse populations. Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge of EHR software, Microsoft Office, and overall computer proficiency. Knowledge of group development/dynamics. Ability to work independently with initiative, good judgment, and available resources. Ability to organize workload, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accuracy. Bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred. Position Requirements

Physical: Occasionally push/pull objects up to 50 lbs; lift/carry up to 25 lbs; ability to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods. Sensory: Ability to read documents and distinguish sounds in a work environment; clear spoken English required. Cognitive: Ability to concentrate on details with interruptions; manage multiple tasks over days. Environmental: Frequent exposure to varied office and mixed residential/office environments; occasional exposure to toxins, dust, and loud noises. Equipment: Frequent use of computer, phone, and fax machine. Essential Requirements

Must be able to obtain criminal records clearance as required by Title XXII and Caminar policies. May require driving. If so, a valid California driver license, reliable vehicle, current automobile insurance, and MVR are essential. Must be able to pass post-offer, pre-employment medical and drug tests as required.
