Principal Technical Consultant, Biologist/Regulatory Specialist, Power and Renewables Base pay range: $106,480.00/yr - $148,700.00/yr As part of the continued growth and innovation of ERM's Capital Project Delivery service offering, ERM has an opportunity for an experienced biologist/regulatory specialist to join our global consulting firm in this role. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting and leading environmental permitting efforts with California utility companies along with technical expertise leading natural resource permitting, CEQA/NEPA, and large-scale capital projects in California. ERM’s Capital Project Delivery (CPD) team focuses on supporting development of projects in the power, technology, telecommunications, mining, chemical, transport, and infrastructure sectors. CPD aims to help clients meet environmental/social performance objectives, enable savings in capital and operating costs, and avoid significant delays. ERM’s CPD service offering has been ERM’s highest growth area globally, with continued expansion. You will be part of a global technical community with a broad range of disciplines and sector experience, contributing to challenging development projects and client engagement. For this Senior level position, annual base pay is expected to be within the range above. Compensation may be outside the range based on factors such as education, qualifications, experience, location, performance, travel, and business needs. Responsibilities

Serve as Project Biologist/Regulatory Specialist for environmental impact assessment under CEQA- and NEPA-related activities and natural resource permitting in support of ERM clients’ capital projects (e.g., data centers, power generation, electrical transmission, renewable energy projects). Contribute to preparing technical studies and impact assessment documents, including Environmental Impact Reports (EIRs) and Biological Constraints Reports, serving in roles from program manager to lead technical expert to QA/QC. Lead programs to develop permit strategies, specify best management practices; prepare permit applications and negotiate conditions with applicable state and federal agencies. Direct permitting and compliance for telecom, energy infrastructure and other linear development projects, with emphasis on permits and consultations with US Army Corps of Engineers, California Coastal Commission, USFWS, CDFW, and RWQCBs. Collaborate with account teams to expand ERM’s services, shaping client engagement and delivering the full spectrum of ERM’s consulting services in electric/gas transmission and generation siting/development markets. Provide business value through strategic selling within client organizations and help raise ERM’s profile to identify client needs for ERM services. Participate in growing and developing a high-performance team, mentoring staff consultants, identifying emerging talent, and expanding responsibilities for rising professionals. Work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment to build ERM’s global business and lead client/practice teams; drive innovation in Impact Assessment and Planning to differentiate ERM in the market. Meet health & safety standards, financial targets, project budgets/schedules, client satisfaction, and internal risk management requirements. Requirements

BS/MS in biology, environmental science or related field. 6+ years of consulting experience, including substantial experience with electric/gas transmission and generation markets in California. Business acumen to understand risks and opportunities to provide enterprise-wide solutions. Track record in delivering multi-million dollar environmental programs or winning large projects. Established relationships with California utility companies (e.g., PG&E, SCE, Sempra) to leverage opportunities. Ability to cultivate new client relationships with Bay Area technology, media, and telecommunications clients. Solid understanding of CEQA/NEPA impact assessment and related best practices in California’s energy markets. Recognized technical expertise with a reputation among regulators relevant to CEQA approvals. Strong people leadership skills and experience managing a team of direct and indirect reports. Positive, collaborative attitude with a focus on ERM’s success as a global company.
