Job Title: IMF Molder
Location: Waukesha, WI
Reports To: Core and Molding Supervisor
1st Shift 5AM – 1:30PM
Part I - Position Purpose
The Molder is responsible for producing high-quality molds using the no-bake (airset) sand molding process in accordance with foundry specifications. This position plays a critical role in the sand casting process, ensuring that molds are properly prepared, assembled, and ready for pouring. The ideal candidate will have experience in a foundry environment and be familiar with the tools, equipment, and safety requirements associated with airset molding operations.
Part II – Job Functions
Read and interpret work orders and process instructions to meet production requirements.
Prepare and assemble molds and cores, with customer patterns for mold production.
Mix, handle, and pack airset sand mixtures into patterns using appropriate hand tools and equipment.
Strip molds from patterns and inspect for accuracy, dimensional conformance, and surface quality.
Patch, gate, and finish molds as required before moving to the next step in production.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety protocols and procedures.
Safely operate lifting equipment such as overhead cranes, hoists, and forklifts to move materials.
Collaborate with coremakers, patternmakers, and pouring crews to ensure seamless mold preparation.
Report defective materials or patterns, and suggest improvements to molding processes or materials.
Perform minor daily/preventative maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
Part III – Qualifications and Experience
1+ year of experience in a foundry or industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
Knowledge of no-bake/airset sand molding processes and materials is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret work instructions.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a hot, dusty environment.
Ability to safely operate material handling equipment (training provided).
